Jo's shindig

Will blog about this later - Stay tuned!!

Singapore Therapy

I'mmm bacccckkk!

Just back from Singapore. Felt a bit of jet lag, believe it or not.

My quickie was from 24th to 27th March.

It was a good plane ride to S'pore. The bummer was waking up at ard 5am as our flight was at 8am. Wonderfully, the plane arrived ahead of schedule and there was no queue at Immigration. Bags came out very quickly and off we zoomed to town. We actually arrived at the hotel at around 1015. No rooms were yet available so BAngel and I went out to shop. (No time to waste la!)

We headed to Paragon where we checked out the Sony stuff. I was so very tempted by the PSP but thought that I might get it at the airport. Bad idea (Why? - Later you will find out) After Paragon and a quick bite, we went back to the hotel and checked in. Out and we went and decided to stick to Orchard. First stop - Borders! Grabbed a few books there and had to return to the hotel to dump our purchases.

We walked around Orchard the whole day and night. That night, my friend Larissa took us for dinner at the Korean restaurant in Far East Plaza. Yummy - I missed the bbq but nothing beats the food in Korea.

Tuesday, 25th

Vivocity - Here we go! We went to Vivocity as BAngel had never been there. It is really a big shopping mall. An understatement I am sure. There were lots of tourists but practically empty MRT. We decided to meet each other after a certain time and then went back to Orchard.

Wednesday, 26th

Decided to go to Chinatown and then Bugis. We went to buy contraband non-halal goods. LOL .

We were once again early so we went for breakfast at the foodcourt. I had a yong tau foo noodles whereas BAngel had her wish - Chai tau kueh. Chatted and ate until 1030ish and wandered around. OG opened and we went in for a look. I came out with a pair of jeans. Do you know how hard it is to find jeans for short legs? I managed to find a pair that actually needed no alteration.

In the afternoon, we tried to arrange to meet MsRacer at Bugis but she was delayed. She was still at the Heritage centre at last sms and we left Bugis by the time she got there. Sorry MsRacer!! I had my McD nuggets with extra sauce. Both BAngel and I had dinner plans that night - Me with my friend's family and BAngel with her aunt.

I thoroughly enjoyed the dinner with the family. I haven't seen them in almost 10 years, since I left Perth. Auntie and Uncle were still as friendly as ever. They also enjoyed the kueh sapit I brought over.

Thursday, 27th

It was time to go. BAngel got her brother's stuff and we busily repacked again. For lunch, Larissa treated us to Swensens. Very different from Brunei man. The food was excellent although I only had the tomato garlic soup. I felt that I had overeaten the past few days. My stomach was near exploding.

Went to the airport at 2pm. No reason to stay in the hotel after we checked out and BAngel wanted to protect her 'pau pei' It was way to early man. The counters were not open and we had to wait. We saw someone and were surprised. No, it wasn't a celebrity but our chingu Chocoballs. Apparently he was on the same flight as us back to Brunei. We sat there and chatted for close to 4 hours until the counters opened.

Finally in the terminal Chocoballs and I went PSP shopping, To our shock and disappointment, the PSP cost more there. So no PSP for us. I went and grabbed a few magazines and bought my alarm clock / IPOD speakers. Cool!

Arrived back in Brunei and was out of the terminal by 1145. So pooped but still unpacked and went to bed around 2pm.

Now I have to think about work again - ARGHH!

For those who really want to enjoy the shopping experience without having to smell another person's BO when you are smushed in the train, go on weekdays!

Where o where have I been

Ok. I have been busy the past week with the workshop.

It was full on five days. On the final day, as a group we had to present a lesson. It was a rush getting it ready within a day.

Luckily, the participants were not old fogeys. We had a lot of fun and who can resist free food!

I came away with some interesting ideas on reading. The first two days were long as the facilitators focused on theories. Really dry.

The next three days were more interesting as they gave us some activities to do.

The ladies in my group.

Surprise

I had to blog about the lovely surprise that my chingus gave me last Friday. At our usual hangout they bought me cake and gifts.

I am glad for my chingus. Whether or not we are single or ahem.. attached, we still try to find the time to meet up. Although one of my travel buddies have found her ONE and another seem to be on the way as well, I am dreading the thought that I will be reducing my travelling.

All in all, we have known each other for about 8 years now. (WOW) and still going strong. Maybe it is true the adage, "Friendship lasts forever" and the trite, "You can't choose your parents but you can choose your friends"

My dear chingus, I hope we will be like this for a long time and stick by each other through fat and thin, pregnant or not and single or otherwise occupied. LOL

Change of plans

Hmm.. I was so looking forward to Korean food.

Nevermind. Due to a very special request, the dinner has been moved to Escapade, Gadong on the 13th March. I will book and send reminders to all on Wednesday. Please confirm if you are coming.

So far, so good on this end. I will be away from work next week and I am racking my brain as to what to give my darlings to do. I am sure they will jump for joy when they realise I am away and waste time on nonsense. At least I know that I will have lots of marking to do when I return. I think I will go and get the papers from school on Thursday.

It's also another two weeks before my holiday begins! YAY!! Anticipating it very much!

So, it's back to work now for me. Have to complete my plan for next week!

Been for too long..

Hello all!

Fresh from celebrating my granma's birthday. She's 72 today. I swear, we had a fresh cream with fresh fruit cake from Sheraton and it was absolutely delicious!

So what have I been up to? Nothing much but there has been tons of work. Not to mention the workshop from 10th to 15th March! 8am to 430 pm. Insane!

I am worried about my students. I am away for 5 days. I will miss two days work with them before their common test so I have to cram the work in next week.

The only thing keeping me going is the meet up with my chingus on the 13th March at the Korean restaurant. So excited now!

Other than that, of course I have been going out with Miss K and Racer. ButterflyAngel has been busy of late and the others find it difficult to meet up I guess. So the 13th is a must! GRR!

I will try and update if anything juicy comes up.

BTW, the countdown clock for MrsDanny's nuptials ~ 28 days to go!!
