What an unforgettable day!
Yesterday, I took a trip down to Miri with my aunts and grandma. It was nice of Julie to drive down with all her shopaholic sisters although she was feeling poorly. (More to come later)
We left my gran's at about 715 and arrived at Miri around 930ish. There wasn't really much of a jam, I mean that from where we queued, I could still see the immigration post. A lot of Chinese people were headed down so I assume we were taking advantage of the public holiday.
As soon as we arrived, it was time for food. I was starving madly by then and managed to wallop a plate of kolo mee, some porridge and tim sum. Bad idea! As soon as I had finished, I started feeling queasy. It all went downhill for me from here. Suddenly as we were headed to Imperial Mall (for me to make my sunnies) I started having a fever. Aftter doing my sunnies, I had no mood to shop around. I just went to the bookshop and bought some magazines.
Next, it was to Parkson. Still not A-OK, I wandered around for a while, went to Popular , then sat down.
The others were feeling peckish so after Parkson, it was off to lunch. Mind you, it was already 3ish by then. We had duck, cuts of meat and a very nice dish of laminding in wine sauce. I could hardly eat so I just picked at a few of the veggies.
We then moved to the big Boulevard. Still the same condition for me so I walked a bit then sat down. Next, we bought some 'buns' We left Miri at approximately 530.
Now, the story begins. After the immigration post and before the Rasau toll bridge, there was a humungous pothole that we couldn't see. We went into the pothole and Julie realised after that something was wrong. After we passed the toll booth, we stopped the car to have a look. Her tyre rims were gone. Ouch! We were worried that something might be wrong with the tyre but it seemed ok. So off we went to drop an aunt in Seria. Still feeling worried, we pumped some air into the tyre.
Past Telisai, the steering wheel started shaking. It was already sevenish. We couldn't stop the car to have a look because that stretch of road was dark and creepy. Suddenly there was some sort of a 'whup-whup' sound. We still couldn't stop the car to check. We decided to turn off at a set of traffic lights. Getting out of the car, yup, it was a flat tire. Really flat. None of us knew how to change a tyre and we stood around hoping for a good samaritan.
Luckily for us a car was passing and stopped. (BU 6800 - Thank You!) The man got down and helped us to change the tyre. He was jokingly saying that women know how to drive but not to change a tyre. Poor guy got his hands really dirty and he told us he was on his way back to his kampung in Ulu Tutong. He also told us that we were just outside the D.O's house.
We thanked the good Samaritan and went on our way home. I was by then busting to go to the loo and had to make a pit stop at my cousin's place at Rimba. Phew!
When we got to my grandma's it was a;ready 930. I was so pooped and Julie was not looking so well either. Her poor car had gone through a lot.
When my mom and I reached home, it was 10. Fed my doggies and then straight to bed. I was out like a light until about 730 this morning. I had fever and slept without the air con. In the morning, I was covered in sweat but it made me feel better.
This morning I went for my usual date with grandma. I realise that I am not as young as I used to be cos my body couldn;t adjust as quickly to the changes in temperature. (From Korea - 0 - 5 degrees) to Brunei's (30 - 33 degrees) I need more rest !
To my chingus, I will update on my trip to Korea soon. As for tonight, I will be off to a dinner so I will not be online. See you all soon!
This is the ski resort we are going to and the weather condition on Thursday.
